Packed auditorium for the Bordeaux 2015 Symposium on Foldamers Last January, 26-28, IECB organized and welcomed the Bordeaux 2015 Symposium on Foldamers. A great success for this fourth edition. Almost 100 participants came to hear about the latest research results on foldamers, these artificial molecules that mimic the folded 3-D structures of some biopolymers and their biological functions. During three days, at least thirty lecturers and speakers from all around the world presented their latest research works and key perspectives. James Fraser Stoddard, the Scottish supramolecular chemist, pioneer of self-assembly processes and renown for having received numerous awards in recognition of his work, opened the session of conferences. Oligomer synthesis, folded polymer synthesis, molecular design, conformational and biological functions studies were among the key topics covered during this event. Launched in 2010, this high level symposium showed us the new state of the art in this area and enabled us to see how foldamers belong to an exciting multidisciplinary field. Organized in Bordeaux or alternatively Paris, the Symposium on Foldamers is now a key event both for experts in the field and also for the IECB that counts 2 dedicated teams in this specific area ; Dr. Gilles Guichard’s team and Dr. Ivan Huc’s team.
