Pr Daniel Louvard joins the scientific advisory committee of the EMBL
After two PHDs, one in Biochemistry and one in Physics, Daniel Louvard was appointed group leader at the EMBL in 1978, when the lab was created. He then moved back to France in 1982 and took a CNRS research director position at the Institut Pasteur. There, he headed the Department of Molecular Biology from 1988 to 1990. Author of over 245 publications and 20 patents, he has been since 1993 the director of the research centre of the Institut Curie. Daniel Louvard is a founding member of the IECB’s International Scientific Advisory Board: "Claude Hélène asked me to join the board at the very beginning of the project, in 1998. I was immediately convinced by the concept of the IECB: to provide young talents in chemistry and biology and let them mature together until they develop first-class interdisciplinary research.” He also actively participates in prestigious scientific boards (EMBO, Academy of Sciences, Academia Europa, European Academy of Cancer Sciences), including, since the January 1st 2012, the scientific advisory committee of the EMBL. The European Molecular Biology Laboratory, which inspired the creation of IECB, has been attracting the best international chemists and biologists since 1978. Headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, the laboratory has satellite sites in Britain (Hinxton), France (Grenoble), Germany (Hamburg) and Italy (Monterotondo).
