Looking to the Future : a day with the 2011 candidates for group leader positions at IECB
In 2011, all candidates are of European origin. They come from Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain, France, Italy, Poland and Romania. However, very few of them currently work in their home country. Indeed, most applicants currently work in prestigious international research institutions: the ETH in Switzerland, the MRC and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in the UK, or the Yale University in the US. « I am glad to say that 2011 is a very good vintage, says Jean-Jacques Toulmé. We had fewer applications than in the previous years, but better ones. We look forward to meet them all.” Following this public workshop, which is free and open to all, the IECB International Scientific Advisory Board will spend two days interviewing the 2011 candidates. What will they be looking for ? “Our first expectation is scientific excellence. Then, the profile has to fit with the IECB endeavor : facilitating interdisciplinary interactions. Finally, candidates must demonstrate leadership and management skills as well as the ability to raise funds in within the French system” explains Iain Campbell, Professor at the University Oxford and member of the ISAB since 1999. |
